Locum FAQs answered

| insurance | getting paid | tax | referees |

Lately a lot of veterinarians are contacting me asking about what’s involved in becoming a locum.  They’re thinking about packing in their job and adopting the #LocumLifestyle.

The questions I’m most frequently asked are:

Do I need to have my own insurance?” and “Do I need to register for GST / how do I pay my taxes?

I’ve answered both of these plus added in two more considerations for you to mull over that I think are important:
  • a couple of the legal aspects of locuming you need to know;
  • how to stay on the good side of your referees so you don’t outstay your welcome.

As always, am happy to answer your questions using which ever method works best for you:
