Inclusion vs Diversity – how can you grow your employer brand as a PEOPLE.FIRST vet clinic?
There’s been a bit of a jargon bandied around the recruitment and HR worlds over the last few years of DEI – diversity, equity and inclusion.
If you’re doing an eye roll right now – that could be for two reasons:
The first is you believe everyone on your team brings their unique talents to the team – from all walks of life and backgrounds. In other words, what’s the big deal about DEI, because you’re already being inclusive. It’s already part of your clinic’s DNA.
The second reason is because you think it’s another fad the world is going through and that people who are most alike work best together… you like your team the way it is thank you very much, and you don’t want anyone who’s remotely different on it. When it comes to including, say, different biological genders on your team – they won’t fit in, so what’s the point?

Here are seven different things you can look at inside your clinic to encourage diversity and growth – personal, professional and financial, as well as ways to get a better response from your job advertisements.

#5 – “be” don’t “do” – ditch the cliches
#6 – eliminate biased language in your job advertisements
#7 – Aim for Equity
